On Sunday we did a Survive event with Lauren Lightninghill (who was helped by Jenny Archlund and Elaine Shadowgarden). All three would hide around Dino Valley and as teams we had to find them using clues. When we found them we would be given 2 questions, if we got one question right we got one survival item (which could be anything from a hat to water) and if we got both we’d get enough for the whole team. Then Lauren might say “Everyone in your team is getting thirsty, you must drink” and everyone in your team who has a drink lives, everyone you doesn’t dies. The final winners were Alice Dawnson, Li Silentland, Aleksandrina Shyforest and Lilah Applewood. Also today we had a Western Lesson (more information to be posted on YouTube tomorrow) and a climbing event hosted by Elise Nightsea. Points are getting counted tonight and will be up tomorrow.

On Thursday we had a Frostie camp run by Kate Southfoot as her first event! We did mounted games in including: galloping to the end, leaving your horse and running back; run to your horse, leading half way and then galloping to the finish and finally, running to the end and back and then walking backwards to half way. We then played a new version of CMC where you randomly jump jumps in the RH and if you fail you are out. Then Kate would say a thing (go to a jump with trees next to it) and everyone would find that jump. If you didn’t find it in 10 seconds you were also out. Next we hacked to GHV stables where we played sardines. It was a fantastic event and thank you everyone for coming!
Hugs Li xx Yesterday we had our open event! As always it started with two lines - FR and non FR: It was a good turn out for one of the regular ones and Lilah Applewood and Rebecca Archstorm did games (Fruit salad, duck duck goose and Stuck in the Mud). Meanwhile, Caitlin Lightlake and I were doing mini interviews which is more of a chance to meet the interest and shortlists. At the end we hacked to Valedale Lake for a BBQ! It was a hard choice but our three spaces went to Ruby Riverbell, Olympia Fastknight and Helena Greenstone. Hugs Li xx Yesterday we did a run over of everything we have done this season in Cross Country. Unfortunately, I wasn’t quite prepared to give a very in depth thing about everything so I am going to do it here so that no one falls behind.
Angled fences - angled fences are one of the easier obstacles of an XC course. When you are jumping a angled jump you need to get a lot closer to it before you jump. The more angled it is, the closer you will be required to get. So if you come in almost parallel to the jump, you will almost need to be touching it before you head over. Ditches - ditches are a very common feature and quite be quite hard as it is hard to know how high and far to jump. The best way to do it is to imagine a jump there and just pretend you are jumping that as everyone has jumped plenty of jumps! Drops - jumping a drop or a bank can give you an edge in a competition. But beware, jumping too close to the edge might cause you to go out of control or for you to die. Don’t try anything fancy when jumping off a drop. Just jump straight off, possibly in canter or slow gallop. Water - obviously, you will never be asked to go in water that is any higher then the horses legs. The main problem in water is misjudging the height of the jump since you can’t see the bottom of it. The best way to solve that is to think of the jump in relation to the horse as this will not change regardless of whether you are in water or not. Once you have judged the size, jump in the correct place accordingly. Jumping on hills - when you jump down a hill, you normally need to be slightly further away from the jump but it doesn’t matter that much. However, when you are jumping up hill you need to practically have your horses nose to the jump before you go over. When you are going down hill the jump is actually smaller then it is and when you are going uphill it is bigger then it is, so be aware! Corners - the best way to decide whether to take a corner slow and tight or fast and wide is very simply, practice. Next XC lesson you will be given a course that Lilah Applewood will go through with you and then you’ll have time to practice it for a month. This will be the course used in the exam so you’ll need to get lots of practice in! Hello all of our lovely readers!! Frosties gathered to the Club Hall on Friday night to discuss a few important topics - rank promotions & the upcoming Christmas season! We've been planning on ranking up two wonderful Frosties to the Riding Instructors - and the first one was promoted today. She's been holding the obvious lead in club points & it was time to recognise her activity with a brand new rank - well done Danielle Diamondnest & welcome to the mini version of our leader team!! We are planning on doing the other RI promotions in the upcoming two weeks when the leader team decides on who should get the promotion - stay tuned, Frosties! (also remember, if you are in FR and you'd like to contribute to the RI promotion decision, let V know on social medias or via SSO mail who you think should get the promotion and why!) Secondly we discussed the upcoming Christmas season! As many of our club members (including the leader team) are very excited about the holidays coming up, Li & the leader team have been processing the idea of having a FROSTY ROSES ADVENT CALENDAR. We will be releasing more specific information on it as soon as possible but right now the basic idea is this: 1) we'd like to publish our very own Advent Calendar here on the Frosty Roses website - made by our very own club members! 2) anyone in Frosty Roses can snatch a day off the calendar for themselves - and fill it with a small surprise. A picture edit, a video, a short story, a poem - anything Christmas themed & SSO related Frosty fun! 3) deadline for the content would be on November 25th! It comes pretty soon so if you're interested in taking part in this project, contact Li as soon as possible (on SSO or on instagram)! That was pretty much all for today! Thank you Frosties for attending our regular club meeting - see yous soon! Until next time, V xox On Tuesday, myself and Caitlin Lightlake (we are the FR website monkeys) held a media event for the website! It was planned to be a shorter then normal event, but it ended up taking 2 hours?! Partly this is because people kept wanting to join in half way through and as we wanted as many people for the photos as possible, we didn’t say no. However, as you can see from the amazing new headers, we got some fantastic photos. So thank you everyone who came and look out for the YouTube media event which hopefully should happen in 2 weeks (this time it actually will be very short).
Yesterday we had our Frosty Roses waiting list event which is open to all on the interest or shortlist. The event started with us making two lines and then hacking to scarecrow hill and making the massive line that you see in the photo. There was about 40 people there! I then divided everyone up into groups. Inside Scarecrow Hill were 4 ghosts (V and the leaders) one at a time the groups had to run off into the Hill and catch the ghosts…or be caught. The winning team were Bella Longsmith’s team. We then went on a hack for a picnic that included a ferry. I wonder if the Jorvik ferries have a weight limit..? In the end we decided that Holly Pinestar, Elise Windfeather and Willow Fireyard. Welcome guys! Loads of people will shortly be put on the shortlist, it was great meeting you all and I honestly wish we could add more of you!
This event was meant to be run by Danielle but it ended up being a Halloween fashion event run by me! First, everyone had to walk down the ‘cat walk’ and introduce who they were. I promise you we had everything, from Batman disguised as Bethany Puppypaw to Liv Oaknight, the carrot! Then we choose the top 5 outfits: These people got to walk again and everyone voted on their favourite. The results were:
1st - Alice Dawnson as Harry Potter 2nd - Holly Pandagarden as the Mad Hatter and Elizabeth Eveningnight, Louisa Bluepie & Bella Longsmith as mean girls 3rd - Madelyn Nightmountain as Elsa Thanks for coming, Hugs Li xx Panda’s event yesterday started with a hack from Steve’s farm to Golden leaves woods. Then at the woods we divided into two teams, skeleton and pumpkin. The skellis had to tag the pumpkins and then the pumpkins were stuck until another pumpkin freed them, it was basically a massive game of stuck in the mud! After that we did relays at the Scarecrow hill (the first time the pumpkins won and the second the skellis won). Finally the pumpkins defended Goldenleaf Stables against the evil skellis who were trying to break in! The winners of the event were Avery Eaglestorm and Louisa Bluepie.
